9.9 - Welcome!

Welcome to ETR113! We will introduce the class concepts, review the syllabus, and build our first circuit!

Getting Started:
Create a simple schematic on paper or draw on computer. What are the components? What do you think they do?
Using a breadboard, try to build your circuit using the power supply and 6V. See how it matches your schematic.
From here, try to build your schematic in Eagle. Do it match your initial design?
What was needed to make this successful? What worked and what didn't?

Supplemental Materials:
PVCC Photo Release Form
Soldering Comic - MightyOhm
Breadboard Intro - Sparkfun
Series LED Class Example - Eagle .sch
LED, Resistor, Power Symbols Library
Series LED Class Example Schematic
01-Introduction to EAGLE Video

For next class...
Make sure you finish your schematic from class!
Create an Autodesk Educational Account if you have not done so already. This will be used to log in to Eagle to build, simulate and fabricate our circuits.
Make sure to fill out the photo release form and submit via this form: Photo Release Form Submission

9.16 - Electricity & Electronics

We will review our previous circuit, breadboarding techniques, multimeter usage and the basics of electricity and concepts including current, voltage, resistance and basic components.

Getting Started:
Review of last class! What made sense? What did not?
What happened to the LED when we changed resistor values?
Startup EAGLE and review of documentation guidelines.

Supplemental Materials:
Class Powerpoint - Wk2
Documentation Guidelines
Series & Parallel Circuit Class Example - .sch
Series & Parallel Circuit Class Example - .png
Resistor Color Code Guide

For next class...
Complete the 2 schematics from class in EAGLE
Build the circuits on breadboard and test voltage at multiple points, resistance, and see current.

9.23 - Ohm's Law

We will look at our previous circuits and try to solve for theoretical and actual values. We will get used to our meter and power supply while applying Ohm's Law and Watt's Laws to our circuits.

Getting Started:
Review of last class! What made sense? What did not?
Finish your circuit in Eagle and build on breadboard.
Find actual voltage at various points, current, and resistance using your meter.

Supplemental Materials:
Class Powerpoint - Wk3
Series & Parallel Circuit Class Example - .sch
Series & Parallel Circuit Class Example - .png

For next class...
Complete some of the example problems to practice Ohm's Law calculations.
Practice Example Problem Sets

9.30 - Series Circuits

We will build a simple voltage divider circuit and calculate the theoretical and actual values. We will look at multiple resistors in series with a DC voltage power supply.

Getting Started:
Review of last class! What made sense? What did not?
Build the provided series circuit on the breadboard and find the current using Ohm's law.
Make sure to catch up on your documentation pieces.

Supplemental Materials:
Class Powerpoint - Wk4

For next class...
Complete some of the example problems to practice Series Circuit calculations.
Practice Example Problem Sets

10.14 - Parallel Circuits

We will focus on developing a matching understanding of Kirchoff and Ohm's Laws through parallel circuit design. We will build an in-class LED tester circuit and go over datasheets.

Getting Started:
Review of last class! What made sense? What did not?
Review the provided series circuit and find the voltage between the two resistors...
Make sure to catch up on your documentation pieces.

Supplemental Materials:
Connectors & Switches Library
LED Datasheet

For next class...
Create the circuit in EAGLE from the video and setup for CNC Milling!

10.28 - Project 1

We will be applying our circuit design and breadboarding it, drawing up the schematic and sending it to the milling machine.

Getting Started:
Feel free to watch the previous class video to get started. Make sure you double check all of your connections and values!
Export your CAM data in order to proceed to the next step!
Check all your values with a multimeter to make sure you have the right circuit design.
